We are looking for an Environmental Advisor to join BMJV on the Lower Thames Crossing – Tunnels and Approaches Project, one of the UK’s most high-profile and transformative infrastructure programmes. The successful candidate will work within the Environment Team, ensuring construction activities comply with environmental legislation and client requirements, and will support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Key Responsibilities
* Support the day-to-day environmental management of construction activities
* Liaise with site teams, clients, stakeholders and the wider environmental team
* Carry out environmental inspections, audits and compliance checks
* Interpret environmental data and produce detailed reports
* Ensure compliance with project consents, permits and legal obligations
* Create and maintain waste management datasets and KPI reporting
* Review risk assessments, management plans and method statements
* Deliver toolbox talks and environmental briefings to site teams and subcontractors
* Support biodiversity protection and prevent disturbance of protected species
* Liaise with local authorities and external stakeholders when required

Essential Skills and Experience
* Proven experience carrying out site inspections and environmental audits

* Experience producing environmental reports and compliance documentation
* Competence in investigating environmental incidents
* Ability to train others on EMS processes and environmental controls
* Some experience of waste management and KPI reporting
* Strong IT skills and a valid UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of ecology and ecological risk management
* Experience dealing with archaeology and heritage‑related issues
