Job Title: Mechanical Assembler / Multi-skilled Workshop Engineer
Location: West Bromwich
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00
Friday: 07:00 - 13:40
40 hours per week, with a daily lunch break
Hourly Rate: £13.00 per hour
Job Purpose
To assemble and test non-electric starting systems and fuel polishing systems to precise specifications, ensuring high-quality standards and timely delivery. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer with a strong mechanical background and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and test mechanical fuel polishing and starting systems.
Ensure timely completion of builds to meet dispatch deadlines.
Work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Liaise with sub-suppliers to ensure quality and compliance with company standards.
Maintain and exceed customer quality expectations.
Continuously improve build processes and outcomes.
Sign off and witness project completions within the workshop.
Conduct on-site service visits for maintenance and remedial work.
Perform fault finding, rectification, and peer checks.
Pack and crate completed systems for dispatch.
Collaborate with the Engineering team to refine designs and drawings.
Support R&D initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes.
Experience and Competencies
Engineering background with mechanical fitting experience.
Skilled in hydraulics, pneumatics, and pipefitting systems.
Apprentice-trained mechanical fitter/engineer preferred.
Experience with Swagelok and Mapress pipe fitting desirable.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
IOSH Working Safely certification (advantageous).
Trained in abrasive wheels and grinding (advantageous).
Overhead crane and forklift experience/certification (advantageous).
Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles (desirable).
