Senior Clinical Pharmacist – Acute & Emergency Medicine / Senior Lecturer
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join our Acute & Emergency Medicine team. This unique joint role also includes a Senior Lecturer appointment with the University of Wolverhampton.
Main duties of the job
Deliver advanced clinical pharmacy services in Acute & Emergency Medicine, including independent prescribing, MDT ward rounds, complex medicines optimisation, and safe discharge planning across the Emergency Department, AMU and wider emergency care pathways.
Support and oversee clinical placements, including supervising students in practice, acting as a Designated Prescribing Practitioner where required, and contributing to the quality assurance of placement learning.
Participate in curriculum and programme development, leading aspects of modules, reviewing courses, collaborating with academic colleagues, and supporting School activities such as recruitment and student support.
Lead medicines governance and safety initiatives by developing and reviewing guidelines, PGDs and policies; undertaking audits; monitoring drug expenditure; and supporting evidence‑based, cost‑effective prescribing.

Person Specification – Experience
* Experience working in the Acute & Emergency medicine specialty
* Experience in supervising, training and assessing staff
* Evidence of developing learning content including training packs for colleagues or undergraduate students
* Experience in tutoring and pastoral support for students and peers
* Excellent leadership skills
* Networking skills, disseminating good practice both regionally and nationally
* Experience of implementing and delivering the objectives of cost/service improvement programmes
Person Specification – Qualification
* Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC
* Postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent qualification/accreditation (e.g. RPS Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway)
