Job summary: This job opportunity as a Second Chef at Barchester Care Home offers the chance to work in a high-quality catering environment, delivering hotel/restaurant standards without the long hours and split shifts commonly found in the industry. The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus, tailoring them to the needs and preferences of the residents. Job responsibilities
* Work closely with the Head Chef to develop and deliver high-quality, seasonal menus for residents, using fresh produce to create appetising and nutritious dishes.
* Assist in managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, including menu development, stock control, and completing regular audits.
* Create a warm, welcoming, and efficient kitchen environment; ensure the kitchen operates to high standards of quality and safety.
Person Specification – Qualifications
* Hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification.
* Good understanding of nutrition and experience working with fresh, seasonal food.
* Personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents; good understanding of HACCP.
