Main purpose of job:
This is an individual contributor role with expectations aligned to the Capabilities and Behaviours as set out in the Abbott Dundee Employee Handbook.
Within the engineering environment, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support and advice ensuring the smooth and timely repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and systems. In addition, provide engineering support for building services and function to maintain building standards in a compliant fashion.
This role will provide callout cover, as required, (24/7).
Accountabilities
Working in a cross functional team to ensure efficient operation of critical and automated systems. This includes reviewing performance history and maintenance history to continue to make ongoing improvements to efficiency.
* Ensuring that all building services are maintained and are operating to a high standard. This includes ensuring all preventative maintenance work orders are completed on time and all demand maintenance work orders are completed in an efficient and timely manner (target <30 days).
* Dedicated to change management and encouraging continuous improvement
* To facilitate and support A3 investigations across the site.
* To lead quality investigations relating to facilities, utilities and critical equipment.
* The ability to take the lead and facilitate system upgrades and provide guidance to a cross functional project team on the required documentation such as change control and validation etc.
* An ability to communicate effectively to a wide audience and accept and follow up on the views and opinions of others. Additionally the individual should be self-directed & motivated with the ability to deliver appropriate results.
* Planning and overseeing small building and new equipment projects. Arrange/liaise with contractors for day to day repairs (Electrical, Plumbing, Joinery etc.).
* The ability to perform frontline maintenance of plant and production equipment including HVAC, refrigeration, water purification and critical production equipment.
* Drive and commitment to resolving issues within and out with local departments caused by equipment, systems and/or environmental conditions.
* Attending meetings as required and making a meaningful contribution.
* Perform periodic maintenance reviews of instruments and equipment to identify performance improvements and drive an increase in OEE.
* Taking full accountability for personal workload, ensuring work is completed to a high standard in accordance with site policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
* Proactively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and other general housekeeping duties.
* Taking a self-motivated approach to continuous professional development and engaging with site training initiatives.
* Developing excellent relations with the department team and wider Operations group.
* Proposing ideas for new opportunities to improve communication and productivity.
* Being aware of the policies as set out in the Abbott Dundee Employee Handbook.
* Carries out other duties as and when requested by Line and or Department Manager
Requirements
* Modern Apprenticeship Level 4/HND/HNC or equivalent and/or
* Relevant facilities engineering experience within a regulated industry/environment
Background
* Previous in-depth experience of facilities maintenance or maintenance of automated equipment.
* An understanding of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) - maximo preferable
* Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Power-Point
* Experience in Process Engineering would be an advantage
* Experience in PLC controls would be an advantage
