Job Summary

NICU - Pathway Coordinator (Medical Secretary) maternity leave cover

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pathway Coordinator to join the NICU team, based on level 5 at Derriford Hospital.

The role is demanding and interesting and will require someone who is flexible and able to work well within a busy environment, has attention to detail skill to manage a variety of tasks to meet deadlines within the service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, capable and motivated individual to join our team. The post-holder will be working closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard to ensure the smooth running of the service.

The ideal candidate must have a flexible 'can do' attitude and the ability to use own initiative with excellent communication/interpersonal and IT skills.

Working Hours:

Part Time - Monday - Friday

Main duties of the job .

The post holder will be responsible for making an active contribution to the management and co-ordination of the work of the clinical office. This will include
ensuring the delivery of a high quality service to the clinical teams
enabling the delivery of all access standards
compliance with administrative process, policy and guidelines.

Job responsibilities

Have knowledge of the latest local and national access standards and targets relevant to thespecialty. To support the proactive management of all relevant waiting lists and target reports, ensuringthat patients do not breach their target waits including 2ww patients in accordance with localand national guidelines. Ensure that patients are proactively managed and are pulled though the administrativesystems designed to support their care journey e.g. obtaining diagnostic results for review,DNAs, removal from waiting lists, expediting referrals etc Ensure that all data quality issues are minimised. Action data quality and other reports as directed by the Clinical Administration Manager. Updating databases and audit management where relevant. Ensure you follow the Trusts APN guidelines and any other standard processes within theTrust. Ensure that all outpatient clinical sessions are booked with appropriate patients in aneffective and efficient way who do not require the support of the OAC department. Ensure correspondence received into the department is dealt with efficiently and effectively. Attend specialty meetings as required

Person Specification

Essential

Qualifications

Proven NVQ level 3 or equivalent in related subject or equivalent demonstrable experience
Proven GCSE English Language and Maths (9-4) or equivalent standard.
Proven typing to OCR Level 2 standard or equivalent.
Proven recognised secretary qualification/ demonstrable experience and/or equivalent.

Essential

Knowledge & Experience

Previous demonstrable secretarial experience.
Previous demonstrable experience in the use of Microsoft software packages i.e. word/excel/outlook.
Demonstrable experience of hospital software e.g. IPM.

Desirable

Demonstrate proven knowledge of Primary Target Lists and waiting list management
Previous demonstrable experience within a large clinical setting
Proven knowledge of IPM.

Aptitude and Abilities

Ability to accurately touch type.
Ability to proof read documents quickly and accurately
