Panoramic Associates are supporting a South East based Local Authority in their search for an Interim Traffic and Street Works Manager. This is a key leadership role within the Highways and Transport Service, responsible for managing traffic flows, coordinating highway works, and maintaining transport assets across the county.
As the Authorities designated Traffic Manager, you'll lead the Traffic and Street Works team to deliver efficient, safe and reliable network performance in line with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Traffic and Street Works function.
* Direct line management responsibility of 4 team leaders.
* Oversee the management of traffic systems, including signals, CCTV and information platforms.
* Coordinate planned and emergency works to minimise disruption and maintain journey reliability.
* Work collaboratively with partners, utilities and contractors to ensure compliance and performance.
* Manage budgets, assets and operational efficiency across the service.
* Direct financial responsibility for capital and revenue budgets totalling approx. £2m in addition to income targets of approx. £750k.
About You:
* You'll bring extensive senior experience in traffic or highways management, with in-depth knowledge of NRSWA, TMA, and intelligent transport systems (ITS). A relevant degree or professional qualification is essential, and membership of a professional body (e.g. CIHT, IHE, ICE) is desirable.
* You'll be an analytical, solution-focused leader with strong political awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple stakeholders.
* The postholder will also participate in the on-call rota for out-of-hours network management.
