POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead the qualification and continuous improvement of suppliers for our products. The role involves managing supplier audits, driving supplier quality improvements, and ensuring compliance with quality standards such as ISO9001 and IATF 16949. You will also lead crisis management for supplier-related quality incidents, support reliability investigations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on product testing and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering, QA audit experience in an automotive environment, and a strong knowledge of supplier quality management systems.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
* Lead qualification of all new ADL suppliers within a specific region and ensure periodic re-certification as required. Maintain an up-to-date Approved Supplier List (ASL).
* Following new supplier acceptance, agree required PPAP level on selected products and take initial PPAP to conclusion utilizing the AD Workbook.
* Previous experience of operating APQP would be advantageous.
* Develop and implement a supplier audit schedule supporting Group Procurement cost reduction activities, and conduct audits by traveling to suppliers.
* Evaluate and improve supplier quality management systems and procedures with new suppliers to ensure supplied quality consistently meets expectations, and update the audit schedule accordingly.
* Develop and implement a continuous supplier audit schedule supporting Group Procurement cost reduction objectives.
* Set individual supplier quality improvement targets and manage performance.
* Lead crisis management for major supplier-related in-service and in-factory quality incidents, responding quickly to escalations and implementing containment measures as required.
* Collaborate with AD Reliability team to support reliability failure investigations, driving root cause analysis and preventive actions.
* Prepare supplier quality and reliability performance data for Supplier QBR/ASR meetings and follow up on actions.
* Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers on alternative product specifications, testing, and implementation to meet AD quality standards.
* Lead all RCCA and continuous improvement activities with new and problematic suppliers.
* Ensure prevention of repeat defects through promotion and utilization of 8D methodology.
* Assess and improve supplier process capability.
* Develop and publish supplier performance reports and metrics via QlikView.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
* HNC/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Quality Engineering, or related field.
* QA audit/engineering experience in an automotive environment.
* Understanding of key quality standards such as ISO9001, IATF 16949.
* Knowledge of supplier quality management systems and procedures – SPC, RCCA, PPAP, 8D, 5S, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Report writing skills.
