Job overview

Following an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with an interest in specialist medicine to join our integrated therapy team at Charing Cross Hospital.

The post holder will predominately be based on 8 North ward where they will help lead the team seeing a variety of patients requiring a therapy intervention prior to returning home or transfer to community rehab units. There will be a broad range of ages, conditions, co-morbidities and complex social situations to manage and the post holder will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, helping plan timely and safe discharges from the ward.

If you want to develop more confidence in your leadership, prioritisation, time management and problem solving skills, then this is an ideal opportunity for you. In addition, you will have supervisory responsibility for a rotational Band 5 Physio and will work closely with a Therapy Support Worker. Supervisory support and advice is always available from a floating Band 7 Physio, along with 2 other Band 7 therapists and the Clinical Lead.

We actively encourage members of the team to provide fieldwork education for students on a regular basis. Therefore, if you are new to student education we can provide you with an introduction to student supervision through sharing a student with colleagues or if you are more experienced/would like to take students yourself, we can support you with that.

Band 6 team members participate in a monthly in-service training programme in addition to our monthly team meetings where a speaker is always invited. We are embarking on QI projects with the intention that learning will be shared at the monthly team meetings and more widely to help promote medicine as a specialism.

We need a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and the ability to learn and develop new skills. You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in medicine and respiratory practice, possess specialist assessment, treatment and risk management skills. The ability to work autonomously, but also well within a multi-disciplinary team is required, as is the ability to promote the role of Therapies within acute medicine and the implementation of evidence-based practice.

3. When providing physiotherapy within this Trust, the post holder will be expected to be professional, efficient, effective, with a commitment to evidence based practice and continuous personal and professional development.
4. The job holder is required to work at weekends as part of their contracted hours of work (specific rota details are held locally within departments). They will do so once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies.
