Your New Role
Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team in Northern Ireland, specifically in Lurgan. Our account has been working in partnership with Lagan Construction since 2007. We are responsible for overall operations and maintenance, including emergency response, winter gritting, and street lighting inspection and maintenance. We maintain 125 km of road network in Northern Ireland and build 40 km of new roads to support and connect communities. The role involves installation of temporary traffic management, highway maintenance, Road Safety Improvement & Active Travel schemes, civils works, drainage works, road gritting, and routine cyclic maintenance.
You will be responsible for:
* Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance, including routine and cyclic activities, civils, and drainage works.
* Driving and operating vehicles, including HGV and plant equipment, ensuring vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning.
* Winter maintenance, including emergency call-outs and standby duties.
* Keeping records such as drivers' hours and necessary paperwork.
* Ensuring safety and compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Carrying out vehicle checks and completing defect reports.
* Attending project and work briefings as required.
* Communicating and liaising with colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, police, the public, and clients.
You should have:
* Previous experience in groundworks, civils, plant operations, or HGV driving preferred.
* Problem-solving skills.
* Self-motivation and proactivity.
* Good communication skills.
* A valid HGV Class 2 license.
