We have a great opportunity for Bank Registered Nurses to join the Hospice'sHospice@Home multi-disciplinary team who provide a high standard of skilled, compassionate nursing care and symptom management to patients within the York community.
This is a bank position, therefore shifts will be available on an ad hoc basis and will be to cover holiday/ sickness within the team.
We do not have sponsorship status and therefore all our offers are made conditional upon our candidates submitting evidence of their right to work in the UK in conjunction with our other pre-employment checks.
Main duties of the job
This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who would like to extend and develop their palliative and end-of-life care skills. You will have the opportunity to work with highly skilled staff within the Hospice@Home Service, working across a full shift rotation pattern (days, nights, weekends and bank holidays).

Mainduties and responsibilities
Professional/ Clinical
Maintaina multi-disciplinary team approach to the individualised care of the patientand maintain high standards of nursing care.
Assessthe needs of the patient and their family taking into account their physical,psychological, social and spiritual needs.
Work closely with all members of theCommunity Team involved in the patients care and agree our input and level ofinvolvement.
Plan, initiate, and constantly evaluatethe effectiveness of care under the direction of the Community Nursing Team andHospice at Home Team Leaders.
Maintain accurate written records ofcare, communicating all necessary information to other team members and anyCommunity Services involved.
Participate fully in the setting,implementation and monitoring of formal standards of practice and to be involved,when required, in clinical governance and audit.
Comply with the requirements of theNursing and Midwifery Council regarding Professional Registration and toPost-Registration professional education and revalidation.
Communicate appropriately with allpatients, relatives, and staff, liaise with other departments and agencies, andattend departmental and interdepartmental meetings as requested.
Take part in the audit process asrequired.
Participate in full rotation across all shifts.
Administrative and Managerial
Maintaina caring and mutually supportive working environment for all members of staffand volunteers, being sensitive to the emotional needs of colleagues and givingappropriate support to them.
Maintain accurate records regarding theadministration and custody of drugs within the community setting. To comply with all statutory andorganisational policies relating to drug administration and management.
Maintain high standards of safety withinthe home, reporting any hazardous occurrences or equipment.
Report all accidents, incidents,complaints, and untoward occurrences, keeping statutory and organisationalrecords as required.
Exercise care and economy in the use ofproperty and equipment.
Education
Assistin the teaching of new staff and volunteers so that they are able to functionfully within the team.
Participatein the teaching and guidance of visiting professionals eg Student Nurses,Social Workers and Post Graduate Students.
Communicateskills learnt on secondment or study leave to other members of staff.
Accessand positively engage in role-related e-learning as directed by line managersand Lead Nurse for Education.
