The Opportunity
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry-leading technologies to support diagnostic testing, which provides important information for the treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
We are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) to cover the areas of Birmingham and East Midlands.
As an OHA, you will work:
* 2 days at our Birmingham Medical Center (B3 3HT)
* 1 day at our East Midlands Medical Center (DE74 2NJ) or case management
* 2 days case management/remotely on customer sites across the area of Cambridge, Birmingham, East Midlands.
What You’ll Do
As an OHA, you will be responsible for delivering a full range of Occupational Health (OH) duties including case management, mandatory, regulatory, and general medicals such as rail industry medicals, safety-critical medicals, health surveillance, train driver medicals, HAVS (additional training an advantage), and health and wellbeing services.
More specifically:
* Work with customers at medical centers, on-site, or remotely to support, advise, and guide managers and employees regarding sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessment, stress management, and return to work following absence.
* Lone working: Ability to work independently in medical centers and on-site, conducting health surveillance, medical assessments, case management, and safety-critical medicals (training provided).
* Provide advice to managers and HR on staff unable to perform their duties, within company policies.
* Assist managers and supervisors with risk assessments related to staff health issues.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practices related to Occupational Health.
* Collaborate with head office to increase service utilization and perform dashboard work as needed.
* Participate in network learning, clinical updates, and aim to achieve clinical goals, such as delivering updates on clinical innovations.
Required Qualifications
* Degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health, registered on Part 3 of NMC, with evidence of CPD.
* Qualification in Hand Arm Vibration and experience with chain of custody protocols for drug and alcohol testing (desirable).
* Ability to conduct medicals/surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS, and safety-critical medicals.
* Experience in the rail industry for train driver medicals, with additional training.
* Ability to conduct face-to-face and remote case management assessments.
* Ability to work closely with HR, health & safety professionals, and occupational health partners.
* Capacity to identify key health issues and develop procedures and solutions.
* Willingness to travel between sites; must have business insurance.
* Competent in computer use, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
