Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pharmacy Team at Kingsway Hospital. We are looking to recruit a dedicated Medicines Management Technician to participate in the pharmacy department’s safe, effective, and responsive pharmaceutical supply services to Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
We have recently opened a new purpose built bedded mental health acute unit, a bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care unit and an 8 bedded Enhanced Care unit for females, based on the Kingsway Hospital site in Derby. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the quality of patient care through safe and effective medicines management.
Main duties of the job
Participate in supporting a high-quality medicine management service that is accurate, effective, efficient and safe to all wards.
Ensure all new Inpatient medicines are reconciled in line with national and local policies and medicines are ordered in a timely manner to patients within the Trust.
Provide medicines information and support to patients and carers to optimise treatment outcomes.
Ensure all pharmacy audits are completed as per schedule and governance standards are always adhered to. Ensuring all action plans are followed up.
Monitor and screen the leave and discharge triages for safe supply of medicines.
Completing a regular accuracy checking session within the pharmacy.
Independently travel between sites. Travel costs will be reimbursed. Working hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am ->

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role will include:
12. Regular inpatient ward visits
13. Medicine reconciliation and checking of PODs
14. Leave and Discharge Triage
15. Completion of Discharge Medicines Service (DMS) dashboard
16. Patient counselling
17. Inpatient top up and stock top up (adhoc basis)
18. Pharmacy governance audits
19. Accuracy checking of medicines
20. Bank Holiday working (one or two per year)

Essential criteria
21. •Recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification (NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services plus under pinning knowledge from BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, BTEC, City & Guilds or equivalent)
22. •Accredited Checking Technician Qualification
23. •Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a qualified technician or working towards
