Job Description:
Job purpose
We are seeking a motivated and charismatic individual to join our admissions team on a full-time basis. This role will primarily focus on student recruitment, particularly engaging with prospective students from Africa and the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have sales experience, be willing to travel regularly to African and Middle Eastern countries, and be fluent in Arabic, with fluency in other languages being desirable.
Beyond recruitment, this role involves maintaining strong relationships with the students you have recruited, as well as their families, once they join Ashbourne. The successful candidate will help ensure a consistent cohort of 25 students from Africa and the Middle East at the college while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
About Ashbourne
Established over 40 years ago, Ashbourne has become one of the best private colleges for A levels in the UK. It is distinguished by excellent exam results, individual attention, and facilities, aiming to be the top college overall for A levels in the UK.
Ethos and culture
At Ashbourne, there are no uniforms, no assemblies, and no school dinners. The relations between teachers and students are informal, vital, and strong. This is encouraged by the lack of formality and the opportunities for engagement provided by small classes.
Unusually for a private college, Ashbourne is selective; most importantly, the college reserves the right to deny any student progression from Year 12 to Year 13 if academic standards are not met. All students are expected to work hard and do their best to reach their potential. There is a ‘100%’ rule for homework submission and a shared ethos of aiming high and doing one's best.
About the College
It is a sixth form college where almost all students are at A level, choosing a more mature approach to education with more freedom and responsibility. Students leave behind uniforms, dinners, and regimentation for the informal relations with teachers. It offers a different approach to education.
Academic performance
Consistently ranking first or second among private colleges in London, and in the top 5% of schools and colleges by value-added.
Individual attention
Supported by small class sizes, each student has a personal tutor monitoring their academic progress and acting as a liaison between teachers, students, and parents.
Welfare
We offer support and strictly prohibit bad behaviour, bullying, or abuse, contributing to student success.
Location
Situated near Kensington Gardens, with easy access to London's cultural opportunities.
Ashbourne community
70% British, with up to 50 different nationalities, offering a wide range of subjects from arts, performing arts, to sciences, economics, and humanities.
Academic opportunities
The college offers diverse subjects including arts, design, classics, history, economics, maths, and sciences, reflecting the talents and ambitions of its students.
Extra-curricular opportunities
Including Model United Nations, Astrophysics, and the Ashbourne Revue, providing various stimulating activities.
Intensive courses
Most students undertake 2-year A level courses, with options for 1-year intensive and 18-month courses starting in January for GCSE and A level.
Scholarships
Generous scholarship programs, especially in music and drama, supporting academically outstanding students.
Happiness
Students support each other in a friendly environment without cliques or snobbery.
