HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT (HLTA) ADVERT
Location: Gosden House school
Salary: S6, £30,647 - £32,867 FTE Actual salary £26,365 - £28,275
Contract Type: Fixed Term (linked to funding) Full-time (36 hours a week, plus 30 minutes unpaid
lunch break), Term-time Only (39 weeks)

nurturing and inclusive environment?
We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive team,
working specifically with our Year 7 cohort in a specialist setting for pupils with Moderate Learning
Difficulties (MLD).
About the Role:
As an HLTA, you will:
• Support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning tailored to the needs of Year 7
pupils.
• Lead small group and whole-class activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Implement personalised learning strategies and interventions.
• Foster independence, confidence, and social development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure every child thrives.
• Adhere to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
• Be vigilant and proactive in identifying and reporting concerns.
• Holds HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
• Holds English Language and Maths at GCSE Grade 4 or above
• Has a minimum 3 years’ experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a special
school or secondary setting.
• Demonstrates a nurturing, patient, and proactive approach.
• Is confident in managing behaviour and promoting positive relationships.
• Is committed to inclusive education and continuous professional development.
