Position: Progression Coach
The Growth Company’s (GC) Education and Skills team has an exciting new opportunity for a Progression Coach to provide quality careers support for young people. This is a fixed-term role until 31 July 2025.
As one of the largest providers of skills and training in the UK, we are dedicated to supporting businesses and individuals through apprenticeships, higher education, and commercial training. We help develop skills across various sectors and levels, working with leading businesses to ensure our curriculum enhances career prospects and business productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one coaching, assessing learners’ strengths, interests, and career aspirations to develop personalized action plans. Complete progress reviews and share copies with parents/caregivers before open evenings.
2. Design and deliver workshops on CV writing, interview prep, networking, and job search techniques to improve employability skills.
3. Offer expert advice on career exploration, industry trends, job markets, and educational pathways to help learners make informed decisions.
4. Ensure reviews are completed timely, discussing career pathways and aspirations throughout the learning journey.
5. Build relationships with employers, industry professionals, signposting agencies, guest speakers, and educational partners to create internship and job opportunities, as well as networking events.
6. Create and update sessions on awareness and PHSE, embedding latest trends into the curriculum.
7. Provide ongoing support and mentorship alongside keyworkers, addressing concerns and connecting learners with local resources.
8. Maintain accurate records of interactions, attendance, progress, and outcomes. Use data analytics to evaluate and improve career development initiatives. Conduct parent/carer evenings for feedback and next steps planning.
About You:
* Warm, approachable manner to build relationships and rapport.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, capable of managing expectations and handling complaints.
* Excellent networking and communication skills, both written and oral.
* Flexibility to travel and work occasional unsociable hours.
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and career development software.
* Experience in developing and delivering engaging workshops and educational programs.
* Excellent interpersonal and educational skills, able to build trust with diverse learners.
Skills Required:
* Certificate in Youth Career Coaching.
* Level 3 Careers Guidance Qualification.
* PTTLS (L4).
* Experience working with learners with additional or SEND needs.
* Previous experience in career coaching or related fields, preferably in education or youth development.
* Knowledge of career development theories, assessment tools, and job market trends.
* Understanding of welfare-to-work programs and customer base.
