We supply high-quality plumbing products to plumbing merchants and builders merchants across the UK. Due to ongoing expansion, we are seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Sales Account Executive to join our Chelmsford headquarters.
This is an excellent opportunity to manage an established customer portfolio while identifying new opportunities to drive revenue and business growth.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing existing customer relationships, increasing account performance, reactivating dormant accounts, and securing new business opportunities. This is a proactive sales role focused on account growth, customer retention, and achieving measurable commercial results.
Working closely with customers and internal departments, you will become a trusted point of contact while contributing directly to company sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and develop an established portfolio of plumbing and builders merchants.
* Achieve monthly sales, revenue, and account growth targets.
* Handle enquiries via telephone, email, WhatsApp, and customer portal.
* Proactively contact existing, dormant, and prospective customers.
* Build strong relationships with key decision makers.
* Increase customer spend through upselling, cross‑selling, and product promotion.
* Prepare quotations and follow up opportunities to maximise conversion rates.Manage the sales process from enquiry through to order completion.
* Identify and secure new merchant accounts across the UK.
* Work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, and Management teams.
* Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular account and pipeline reporting.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role is driven by consistent customer engagement and proactive account management.
Key Expectations Include
* Maintaining regular contact with assigned accounts.
* Consistent outbound sales activity throughout the month.
* Contacting all active accounts at least once every 30 days.
* Following up quotations within 48 hours.
* Reactivating dormant customers through targeted business development.
* Identifying upselling and cross‑selling opportunities.
* Maintaining accurate CRM records and a structured sales pipeline.
Typical activity levels include 50:70 customer conversations per day alongside ownership of a structured monthly account contact programme.
Performance will be measured through sales revenue, gross profit growth, account development, customer retention, new account acquisition, and achievement of agreed activity targets.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated sales professional with a proven track record in a B2B sales environment.
You may have experience in internal sales, account management, business development, or telesales. Experience within plumbing, heating, construction products, merchanting, or distribution would be advantageous.
