We are seeking a skilled Electrically Biased Rotating Equipment Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will primarily work in modern, well-equipped workshop, with occasional site visits to local customer facilities for service, repair, or commissioning work.
Duties will Include:
- Diagnosis, repair, overhaul, and testing of rotating equipment including:
* Electric motors (AC/DC)
* Gearboxes
* Pumps (centrifugal, submersible, etc.)
* Fans and blowers
* Transformers (basic inspection and testing)
- Electrical fault finding, motor refurbishment, and dynamic balancing.
- Occasional on-site work for installation, maintenance, or emergency repairs.
- Completing service reports and maintaining accurate job documentation.
- Ensuring health & safety and quality standards are maintained at all times.
Skills and Experience
- Proven hands-on experience working with rotating electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Strong electrical bias with the ability to interpret electrical drawings and carry out fault diagnosis.
- Competence in motor refurbishment, testing (e.g., insulation resistance, surge, and mechanical strip-down.
- Experience using test equipment such as megohmmeters, multimeters, and vibration analysis tools.
- Mechanical understanding of alignment, fitting bearings, seals, shafts, and coupling systems.
- Ideally qualified to NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / ONC or equivalent in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of workshop health and safety practices, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Hours of work are 40 hours Mon- Fri 08.00 -16.30 day shift with occasional overtime or weekend work during busy periods. The role comes with a very competitive starting rate of £18.17 per hour together with company pension, death in service benefit and 4 weeks holiday (increasing to 5 weeks after 2 years) + bank holidays
