LinkAble is a charity that supports children, young people, and adults with a learning disability or autistic people to create the life they want to live. It offers weekly activities and experiences that they may struggle to access in the wider community, supporting them to learn new skills, form lasting friendships, and lead fulfilling and independent lives.

We are looking for a Group Leader to run our weekly adult evening social club on Thursday from 5.45pm to 9.15pm. Applicants for role can be combined with other daytime or evening roles that LinkAble is recruiting for.

In this friendly group, attendees work with our staff to build a monthly programme of activities.

Moving On Up offers the opportunity to meet new people, enjoy activities and have fun with friends in a safe and supported environment. As the group members get stuck into a wide range of social activities, they have ongoing opportunities to practice social skills and communication, which helps increase their independence.

The group enjoys bowling, cinema trips, eating out, swimming, cooking and theatre trips. We are always happy to hear ideas for new activities – what would you like to do?

Key Responsibilities

* Under the direction of the Adult Services Manager be responsible for the effective, efficient delivery and day to day management of LinkAble's group.
* Ensure all paperwork for the session is completed and returned to the Adult Services Manager, including registers, incident/accident forms and payments.
* To provide guidance and support to all group staff when working with and supporting service users in sessions, including support with personal care, communication, mobility needs and behaviour.
* Liaise with the Adult Services Manager about pre-planning of activities and weekly timetables, considering the budget per session.
* Ensure that the group operates within LinkAble's policy framework and reflects both the charity's mission statement and core values.
* Ensure that all activities and off-site trips have been carefully planned and properly executed.
* Supervise and coach all sessional workers and volunteers, ensuring that they are supported and aware of the charity's policies and reporting procedures.
* Conduct briefing and debriefing sessions involving all sessional workers and volunteers.
* Ensure a fun, stimulating and safe environment for service users at all times.
* Support and enable service users to develop their independence appropriate to each individual whilst encouraging participation within a group setting.
* Monitor, record and report to the Adult Services Manager any developmental changes to the individual service user so that the profiles can be regularly updated.
* Promote a healthy living agenda by providing the service users with the appropriate information about healthier lifestyles and healthy alternatives with regard to food and drink, therefore enabling them to make informed choices.
* Take photos to support with LinkAble's fundraising and marketing, whilst following our policies around photo consent.
* Immediately report any safeguarding issues or concerns to the appropriate Line Manager, Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
* Promote other activities and events to service users and their support networks that are available throughout the charity.
* Attend any mandatory training sessions that are required within the role.
* Ensure that session risk assessments have been read and followed before groups.

* You are willing to support with personal care where needed.

Available for November start.

Requirements

Experience working with disabled adults/young people or children is essential.

Recognised professional qualification – NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.

A full driving licence with D1 entitlement is desirable but not essential

Be 18 years of age or over.

Have the right to work in the UK.
