Internal applications are invited for two part-time Specialty Doctor posts (1 day per week/ wte) in Orthodontics to start at the earliest opportunity. The vacancies are available on Tuesdays and Fridays only. The posts are based at the Eastman Dental Hospital (RNENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals) part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join an established team in providing a wide range of orthodontic services and postgraduate training. Applicants will be expected to be active in specialist practice, have experience in postgraduate teaching and training, and excellent communication skills.
All candidates must be on the Specialist Register for Orthodontics.
Main duties of the job
These positions are to support existing clinical service provision and training needs. The focus of these posts will be Orthodontic clinical supervision, clinical training and teaching of trainee orthodontists.
As well as educating trainees with their knowledge and expertise in the field of orthodontics, they will be responsible for treatment being carried out safely, to a level appropriate of a specialist hospital and complying with clinical protocols.
A key component of these posts will be communication with referring practitioners and close working with the consultant team to help drive the service to achieve the objectives of the department.
