Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to adults in a residential care setting. The role is focused on promoting dignity, respect, independence, and wellbeing for service users, helping them live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of a team to implement and follow person-centred Care and Support Plans.
* Support service users with personal care needs, including washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, and eating and drinking.
* Encourage and support service users to maintain independence and achieve personal goals.
* Support and encourage service users to engage in meaningful activities that enhance their social and emotional wellbeing.
* Help service users maintain relationships with family, friends, and the community.
* Provide reassurance and emotional support to service users who may feel anxious or isolated.
* Assist with domestic tasks such as making beds, changing linen, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and tidy environment.
* Prepare and serve light meals, snacks, and beverages, assisting service users where needed.
* Use equipment and aids safely in accordance with procedures.
* Take immediate action in emergencies and summon appropriate support.
* Maintain awareness of fire safety procedures, escape routes, and emergency actions.
* Comply with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations at all times.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records using approved electronic care recording systems.
* Communicate effectively and respectfully with service users, colleagues, and other professionals.
* Ensure confidentiality is respected at all times and information is shared only with those who have a right to access.
* Participate in relevant learning and development opportunities to maintain and enhance skills.
* Comply with all organisational policies, procedures, and legal frameworks, including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults in line with East Riding safeguarding procedures.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility of the post.
Required Experience and Qualifications
* Experience of working in adult social care or supporting service users with their care and support needs.
* Suitable to work with vulnerable adults and successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check.
* Ability to communicate effectively with compassion, empathy, and respect.
* Understanding of quality standards, policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
* Demonstrated ability to treat others with dignity and respect.
* Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and service users.
* Respect for confidentiality and the ability to maintain accurate records.
* Ability to use care-related equipment and aids safely.
* Basic IT skills to use electronic care recording systems.
* Reliable, trustworthy, and professional approach to work.
* Willingness to undertake mandatory training and continuous professional development.
* Ability to speak and understand English fluently to effectively perform the duties of the role.
Additional Information
This role may involve flexible working, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.
Full induction and training will be provided.
