We are seeking an experienced qualified Reporting Radiographer to aid in the advancement of our Reporting Service and ensure that scans are reported with the utmost excellence within the appropriate time frame.

You should possess extensive experience in establishing governance and implementing best practices in accordance with professional standards.

As part of this role, you will be expected to meet the four pillars of advanced practice, conduct diagnostic imaging and maintain relevant records, supervise junior Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, Apprentices and students, assist in teaching SpRs, and participate in research and audit.


Responsibilities

* Undertake independent image interpretation in line with their scope of practice with the view to provide detailed written or verbal reports to the referring clinicians, to determine diagnosis where applicable, as part of the delegated radiographers extended role.
* Organise workload in areas of delegated responsibility on a daily basis, maximising efficiency using available resources and managing patient priority as appropriate.
* Conduct examinations, producing high quality diagnostic images, across a range of modalities, ensuring safe practice is carried out in accordance with departmental protocols and in line with their clinical scope of practice.
* Provide independent, timely, accurate and appropriate clinical reports for a range of radiography examinations (plain film/MRI/CT) from a range of referral sources as appropriate to their scope of practice.
* Practice at the standards and responsibilities expected of a reporting radiographer according to local policy and procedures.
* Practice safely in a radiation working environment in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017 legislation.
* Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their own work; act as an independent radiographic practitioner and maintain professional standards defined by HCPC and College of Radiographers.
* Assess the clinical justification of radiography referrals in line with IR(ME)R 2017 and local guidelines, where appropriate.
* Autonomously carry out radiographic imaging using ionising radiation (and/or high-strength magnetic field), ensuring production of high quality images to enable accurate diagnoses while minimising radiation.
* Interpret Clinician’s requirements and determine the appropriate protocol; liaise with the referral source for clarification and advise referrers as needed.
* Monitor and maintain a safe working environment with regard to quality assurance, infection control and health and safety.
* Provide an efficient and effective service to patients and staff, maintaining a high standard of patient care.
* Ensure infection control measures, PPE use, equipment cleaning, and linen handling as appropriate.
* Ensure equipment is maintained and troubleshoot faults; liaise with manufacturers as needed and document events and notify modality lead and service users.
* Record examinations accurately on radiology information systems and trust-wide platforms in accordance with data protection regulations.
* Support the radiation protection lead and radiation protection supervisors to evaluate monitoring systems and practices.
* Work as part of the Imaging workforce as required.
* Provide detailed written and/or verbal reports and adapt technique as appropriate; act as a source of information for peers, junior staff, students, referrers and medical staff.
* Establish, implement, maintain and develop professional knowledge to enable safe delivery of practice.
* Authorize and vet requests for specialist areas using departmental guidelines, efficiently managing unavailable authorisations.
* Work closely with doctors and other medical staff to ensure protocols are adhered to.
* Maintain links with non-medical referrers; provide training regarding referrer role and document evidence for audits.
* Prioritise patient workload by clinical need; prioritise workload of juniors; advise patients regarding their referrals.
* Judge the quality of images produced by themselves and junior staff, ensuring they are fit for purpose and take action on substandard images.
