Overview
We are looking for a Principal EIA Consultant within WSP’s Environmental Assessment and Management team, to support our Environmental Management and Assessment work in the UK. The role is based from any of WSP’s UK offices and involves leading environmental design, assessment and management across multiple sectors including onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, rail, and more. The team engages early in concept and option stages to shape projects in line with environmental and community considerations, continuing through consent, design, construction and handover.
Responsibilities
* Lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors.
* Influence, lead and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects from feasibility through planning, detailed design, construction and handover/maintenance.
* Take responsibility for bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management on projects.
* Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
* Collaborate with diverse environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
* Lead large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial and health & safety performance.
* Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities for resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
* Develop new client relationships and pursue opportunities for marketing, cross-selling, and presenting at conferences on behalf of WSP.
* Lead activities to secure new work, including developing proposals for complex opportunities, bids, and framework opportunities, and pursuing business development opportunities.
* Contribute to the development of innovative techniques (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA).
* Drive performance improvement and career development across the team.
* Promote an inclusive workplace, uphold health and safety, and support the values of WSP’s health, safety and wellbeing culture.
* Contribute to the success of the WSP business strategy through self-motivated goal setting and project delivery.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* A relevant environmental degree at level appropriate for EIA or similar.
* Chartered Environmental status and Full membership of IEMA, or equivalent qualification with a relevant professional body.
* Experience of EIA and EIA processes with ability to work with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and review with attention to detail.
* Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects (rail, highways, energy, commercial/residential).
* Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting and quality assurance.
