Your new role
In this role as Contracts Manager, you will oversee all fuel supply contracts connected to the sites facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all contractual, legal andpliance obligations are delivered effectively while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and operational teams. You will monitor contract performance, assess results, identify improvements and create action plans designed to enhancemercial oues and operational efficiency. This includes managing fuel volumes and quality, ensuring site rules are followed, and supporting the operational teams’ requirements.
You will act as the main contractual point of contact for Local Authorities,mercial & Industrial customers and merchant suppliers. Your responsibilities will extend to maintaining contractual documentation, updating the contract risk register, ensuringpliance with relevant legislation andpany procedures, and developing contingency strategies for planned and unplanned outages. You will also work closely with senior management, supporting and deputising for the Head of Contracts, and providing strategic and day‑to‑day assistance to other Contract Managers when needed.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this position, you will need significant experience in contract management, particularly in handlingplex agreements, performance frameworks andmercial negotiations. A strong understanding of financial processes is essential, including budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss management and both capex and opex planning. You should be an effectivemunicator, able to build strong relationships at all levels and present information with clarity and persuasion. Strong organisational skills, an analytical mindset and the ability to balance multiple priorities under pressure will be crucial.
You will need strong written, numerical and IT capabilities, with proficiency in Microsoft software. Experience within waste management or environmental services is beneficial, as is familiarity with industry legislation, weighbridge systems and the development of new systems or procedures. A full UK driving licence is mandatory.
