Overview
This post in paediatric oncology is suitable for trainees wishing to gain experience in paediatric oncology, for those wishing to pursue a career in Tertiary Paediatric Oncology, or as a stand-alone post providing training for generalists with a specialist interest (i.e. shared care oncology).
Responsibilities
* Competent in the initial management of the more common childhood cancers.
* Competent in managing infection in the immunocompromised child.
* Understand and be competent in the prescribing and administration of chemotherapy.
* Become familiar with the more common treatment protocols used in treating childhood malignancy.
* Develop improved communication skills especially in the area of breaking “bad news”.
