About the Company
Our client specialises in designing and manufacturing sophisticated welding systems and associated production equipment. Their systems are used in demanding industrial applications and built with high standards of precision, serviceability and performance. This role sits within their assembly and support operations — building, servicing, and maintaining their engineered welding devices for both domestic and international clients.
Main Purpose of Role
To assemble, fit, test, and maintain high-precision welding systems and related mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have machining experience (turning, milling) and practical skills with jigs and tweaks. Occasional travel to client sites for commissioning and remedial service work (UK and abroad) will also be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies of welding systems per drawings and specifications
* Perform turning, milling, drilling, threading and jig adjustments to components and parts as required
* Fine-tweak assemblies (fit & finish, alignment, tolerances) to ensure mechanical integrity and functional performance
* Work from technical drawings, BOMs, CAD models and manufacturing instructions
* Perform initial testing, adjustments, and calibration of assembled systems in workshop environment
* Support on-site commissioning, installation, and servicing at customer locations (UK & overseas) — typically trips of up to 7 days
* Diagnose mechanical faults or issues encountered in service and implement solutions or repairs
* Collaborate with design, engineering, and quality teams to assess changes and improvements
* Maintain documentation and records of build processes, parts, calibration and service reports
* Apply safe working practices and maintain compliance with all health & safety and quality standards
Person Specification / Required Skills & Experience

* Hands-on machining experience: turning, milling, drilling, etc.
* Previous work using jigs, tweaks, fixtures to fine-adjust and align parts
* Experience with mechanical assembly of equipment or systems
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials
* Good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving capability
* Willingness to travel occasionally for service/commissioning tasks (UK / global)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Self-motivated and able to manage tasks under minimal supervision
Desirable
* Experience in welding systems, industrial fabrication or custom machinery
* Understanding of electrical / mechatronic integration (i.e. working with machines that integrate mechanics + electronics)
* Experience in quality systems (ISO, manufacturing QA)
* Previous experience in customer-facing service or commissioning roles
* Familiarity with calibration, alignment, tolerance measurement
Benefits & Additional Info
* A competitive salary within the £32–35k band, based on experience
* Opportunities for professional development and cross-training
