About the Role
Academy House, Alexandria is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who already has experience in a similar senior or supervisory role within Health and Social Care and is ready to take the next step in leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high-quality, person-centred support for individuals with learning disabilities and/or additional support needs, while providing day-to-day guidance and leadership to the staff team.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience in a Senior Support Worker (or similar supervisory) role within a health and social care setting.
* Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health support needs.
* Demonstrable experience of leading shifts and guiding staff practice.
* Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Understanding of person-centred planning and outcome-based support.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work flexibly, including shift work where required.
* Relevant SVQ qualification (or willingness to work towards the required qualification in line with SSSC registration).
* Registration with (or eligibility to register with) the SSSC.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead by example to ensure a consistently high standard of care and support in line with organisational values, SSSC Codes of Practice, and Health and Social Care Standards.
* Support, guide, and mentor staff to maintain a competent, confident, and motivated team.
* Promote person-centred approaches, ensuring individuals are fully involved in decisions affecting their lives.
* Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of outcome-focused support plans.
* Monitor, audit, and review practice within the service, reporting any concerns or changes in need to the Service Manager.
* Maintain effective communication with families, professionals, and partner agencies.
* Support staff development through supervision, training, and performance monitoring.
* Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times.
