Join Our Team as a Children's Home Deputy Manager!

Position Details

* Location: Barnsley
* Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
* Salary: Up to £40,831.30 per annum (including sleep-in shifts and on-call payments)
* Specific Hours: 39 hours per week
* Accountable to: Registered Manager and Operational Directors


Your Role

As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of our established 4-bed home. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality care while promoting the rights, wellbeing, and individual needs of each young person.


Main Responsibilities

* Service and Practice:
o Ensure compliance with legislation, safeguarding requirements, and organisational policies.
o Maintain Health and Safety standards and ensure staff training is up-to-date.
o Support accurate record-keeping and contribute to quality assurance systems.
o Promote effective childcare practices and continuous improvement.
o Prepare for and chair meetings, both internal and external.
o Participate in the on-call rota and provide sleep-in cover as needed.
o Produce evaluative reports to uphold regulatory standards.
* Human Resource Management:
o Assist in the recruitment process and ensure safer recruitment checks are completed.
o Support staff induction, supervision, and appraisal processes.
o Facilitate staff development through mandatory training and CPD.
o Manage staff rotas and oversee expenses.
o Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters.
* Management of Resources & External Relations:
o Monitor budgets and financial processes to ensure effective resource use.
o Address maintenance issues to keep the homes safe and compliant.
o Represent the organisation positively in all external interactions.
o Liaise with commissioners regarding placements and admissions.


What We’re Looking For

* Commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Minimum Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
* Level 5 Leadership & Management, or willingness to complete.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Ability to build effective relationships with young people and colleagues.
* Emotional resilience when working with challenging behaviour.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice.
* Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
* Flexible, reliable, and eager to contribute to organisational development.
