Job Title: Electrical Supervisor
Location: Port of Leith
Hours: Monday-Friday 0700-1500 (we are keen to consider alternative working patterns)

About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and organised Electrical Engineering Supervisor to lead the Electrical Engineering Department in maintaining and repairing port plant, equipment, and infrastructure. This role ensures all work is carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures, supporting the smooth running of port operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and co-ordinate all electrical maintenance activities to ensure timely and safe completion of work
* Maintain effective communication with other departments and contractors to minimise operational disruption
* Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns during normal hours and on-call periods
* Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, safe systems of work, and permit procedures
* Manage and allocate daily work tasks via Ultimo and oversee work completion and quality
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, attendance, and equipment certification
* Support the training, induction, and performance management of departmental staff
* Supervise confined space work and isolation of HV/LV systems safely and in line with company protocols
* Monitor contractor work and overtime rotas, ensuring minimal impact on port operations
* Promote and uphold a positive health and safety culture through regular inspections, briefings, and reporting
What we're looking for:
You will be a proactive, technically competent leader who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment. Flexibility is essential, as the role requires participation in an on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours or weekend work to support port operations. You’ll need to lead by example, promoting safety and teamwork across the department.
Key Skills and Experience
* Qualified electrician with relevant industrial experience
* Strong knowledge of port operational plant and electrical systems
* Proven supervisory experience, ideally within a unionised or multi-union environment
* Familiarity with risk assessments, IEE regulations, permit-to-work systems, and dock safety procedures
* Competent in using maintenance and reporting systems such as Ultimo and SHE Assure
