Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
We’re looking for a caring and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, providing 1:1 and small group support to children who need extra help to engage with learning and develop their confidence.
The school is well-regarded, with a supportive staff team and a strong focus on nurturing every child. You’ll be working alongside dedicated teachers and support staff who truly care about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Providing 1:1 support for a child with SEMH needs.
* Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development.
* Helping the child engage with lessons and access learning.
* Building positive, trusting relationships.
* Using patience, empathy, and consistency to encourage progress.
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with children with SEMH needs (school, childcare, or similar setting).
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
* Strong behaviour management skills and resilience.
* A team player who is proactive and flexible.
* A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and wellbeing.
