The Production Manager is responsible for running the workshop, ensuring that all workshop activities are planned and managed in accordance with the agree timescale and budget, managing all workshop staff and monitoring all other activities that contribute to the success of the workshop
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning of all workshop activities including goods-in, kitting, assembly, wiring, manufacturing, packing, goods-out & delivery with all associated paperwork.
Responsible for the management of the workshop environment including safety, environment, HR etc. to ensure a safe and compliant workshop environment
Act as the central point of liaison and coordination with all stakeholders for all workshop activities, with an especially close relationship with Projects, Purchasing, Test & Inspection to ensure all jobs are run in accordance with the agreed project timeline
Duties include planning and organizing the resources required to execute assigned workshop tasks, including internal and external resources with time and cost management budget vs actual
Plan and manage the various workshop production areas to give the best space utilization including special access, bonded and restricted (OS and Dedicated Job) areas
Manage works through an end-to-end project life cycle; monitor overall project progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans.
Deliver on time, on budget, on quality workshop tasks.
Workshop activities will involve a large variation and quantity of projects, ranging from low value (£5K) simple projects lasting weeks, up to large (£1M+) complex projects lasting several years. Equipment builds range from small bench top assemblies being a few centimeters square and weighing a few KG, up to large 2M floor cabinet with complex and heavy componentry weighing over 1000KG
Ensure best practice technical, logistical & commercial direction is always in place for works activities.
You will be expected to Identify potential problems well in advance, consider the broad range of commercial and technical factors that will have an impact on each project, and identify practical solutions and implement approved solutions.
Skills, knowledge and experience
Must be capable of motivating project/works personnel to achieve project success.
Must be capable of occasionally working outside normal working hours to meet customer project requests as required.
Excellent communicator at all levels to negotiate best outcomes internally and with customers.
Must have high levels of competence in manufacturing, wiring & engineering practices and related issues including effective utilization of resource teams.
Demonstrable ability to prioritise and differentiate projects tasks and sales support requests within a complex and conflicting environment.
Experience in a similar role in this or closely related industry, having also performed at lower levels in technical project delivery role on which this role builds upon
Must be proficient in MS office.
A formal qualification in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering is required, preferably at degree level.

The Package
The position is full-time, based in Milton Keynes, Salary is £45 - 50k per annum depending on experience, Company car, 37.5 hours per week (4.5-day week, core hours), 23 days holiday (one day extra per year up to 5), company bonus and pension scheme
