The Commercial Team

As part of the Commercial team, you will oversee the commercial aspects of our construction sites, supporting various new build and refurbishment projects, ensuring that commercial activities are accurate and completed on time.

Role Profile - Quantity Surveyor

Reports to: Commercial Manager

Team members: N/A

Location: Wansbeck Workspace and other locations as required.

Role Purpose: To manage contractual and financial aspects of projects, liaising with internal departments to support and achieve the business plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide comprehensive Quantity Surveying support on live and pre-construction projects.
* Support, resource, and clearly communicate roles to direct reports.
* Build and maintain relationships internally and externally to facilitate cohesive project delivery.
* Develop and implement processes for accurate cost reporting.
* Produce preliminary estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies, advising on economical construction methods, procurement, programming, and contracts.
* Prepare tenders and procure sub-contractors, goods, and materials to ensure value for money, following Ascent procurement policies.
* Manage sub-contract payment notices, variations, and final accounts with sub-contractors.
* Prepare and agree on external payment applications, variations, and final accounts with Employers' Agents or Employers.
* Manage customer incentives and extras with sub-contractors.
* Carry out CVR processes, review costs with buyers, and ensure accuracy of cost-to-complete assessments.
* Report on project cash flow.
* Ensure contract documentation complies with project requirements, legislation, and policies.
* Manage contractual issues effectively, both internally and externally.
* Maintain accurate and updated library house type costs.
* Assist in developing supply chain partnerships.
* Procure statutory services and utilities.

Personal Specification

Essential Criteria:

* Degree or relevant experience in Quantity Surveying.
* Contractual awareness with the ability to develop robust processes and manage contracts.
* Experience in quantity surveying procedures and practices.
* Knowledge of contract administration under standard forms (NEC, JCT).
* Experience managing relationships with subcontractors and work packages.
* Full UK driving license.

Desirable: Experience with COINS software.
