Clinical Scientist - Principal Nuclear Med Physicist (XR08)
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Scientific & Clinical
To act as a Medical Physics Expert as defined in the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017, providing expert medical physics, radiation protection, and dosimetry advice to clinical staff and external parties. To support nuclear medicine services within the Trust and externally. To deputise for the Head of Section when required. To supervise staff and assess trainee competency for unsupervised procedures. To advise on technology failures and determine clinical readiness of equipment. To manage quality assurance for relevant systems.
Clinical Service Development
Identify service improvement opportunities, participate in multidisciplinary teams, and implement new techniques to benefit patients. Responsible for developing and evaluating new equipment, accessories, techniques, and complex nuclear medicine software and systems.
Teaching and Training
Provide education and training to students, radiographers, technologists, physicists, clinicians, management, and the public on nuclear medicine topics.
Research and Development
Engage in research to improve nuclear medicine practices, develop new diagnostic techniques, and implement advanced equipment and facilities.
