We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Commis Chef at the Telegraph Hotel, Coventry.
Who are we:
An iconic building at the very heart of the city centre, the hotel evokes the famed mid-century 1950s architecture of Coventry and will be a reflection of its former life as a thriving newspaper and printer works. It will feature 88 air-conditioned bedrooms, several of which will be duplex penthouse suites, as well as a stylish restaurant in a glazed courtyard, meeting, event and conference space, alongside a rooftop bar overlooking Belgrade Square.
As a Commis Chef you will be expected to support the Head Chef & Sous Chef with the efficient and effective running of the kitchen.
The ideal candidate:
You must be passionate, hardworking and dedicated to a progressive career as a professional Chef. Time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure are key. A keen eye for pastry is required however not essential as you will be trained on the job.
Direct experience with hotel businesses is not required, though some knowledge of the industry would be beneficial, as would experience working with restaurants, bars, or events-based sites across both desktop and mobile. The ideal candidate would be both resourceful, efficient, and with an outstanding eye for detail.
Duties will include:
1. Ensure all dishes are prepared using fresh produce, combining contemporary flavours with traditional techniques.
2. Ensure that the preparation and presentation of the food is of a high standard and compiles with food safety regulations.
3. To support the achievement of budget food gross profit.
4. To ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the Kitchen operation.
5. To ensure the Company Healthy and safety, food safety and COSHH legislation is adhered to.
