Calling all interim construction lawyers! My client is seeking a mid-level construction lawyer to join its team on a 12-month contract. They are a well-known Construction Engineering firm specialising in civil engineering and commercial construction projects. You will be an integral part of the legal team, providing strategic legal advice and support on various contentious and non-contentious construction matters. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to navigate complex legal issues and drive business objectives forward.
You will be responsible for:
1. Reviewing and negotiating construction contracts (NEC3/4 ECC and PSC in particular) and other complex commercial contracts
2. Advising on joint venture arrangements and commercial structures for the engagement of subcontractors
3. Liaising with commercial colleagues to review and input into contract negotiations
4. Advising commercial colleagues and project delivery colleagues in relation to contract management/administration issues on live projects
5. Leading the legal input into/management of adjudications/disputes, supported by external legal counsel
6. Working with the wider legal team and the business to ensure procedures, processes and template contract documents are in place to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
7. Managing external legal spend to ensure value for money and high-quality provision of advice to the business, in the limited circumstances where work has to be outsourced
