Ashleigh Veterinary Centre currently has eleven veterinary surgeons, ten registered veterinary nurses, three trainee veterinary nurses, seven auxiliary veterinary nurses, eight receptionists and a practice manager. This role is for cat and dog work. You will be working alongside colleagues from diverse backgrounds with many years of experience and qualifications– 3 exotic cert holders, 1 currently sitting ECC cert and 1 sitting ophthalmology cert. We actively encourage career progression and would happily support further accreditation in your chosen field.

We are very well equipped with digital xrays, video endoscopy, rigid endoscopy, dental xray, ultrasound, slit lamp etc. which means we can cater for most patient’s needs. We also have a great group of nurses with exotic animal nursing qualifications, and support staff who are an essential part of our team.
We are 2.5 miles from the vibrant centre of Manchester and 1 mile from Old Trafford. The peak district can be reached in 30 minutes and the lake district, or beaches within 1 hour. We also have excellent transport links, being at the axis of the motorways and Manchester airport being a 10-minute drive.

We are a supportive, caring, busy practice with fantastic team work. We have great clients and a wide variety of patients! Our aim is to provide a high standard of veterinary care, and we have a great local reputation. We pride ourselves on giving honest advice and we don’t work to targets.
We are RCVS silver accredited, and rabbit welfare silver accredited. We are staffed 24 hours a day for improved patient welfare and client care (we have a dedicated OOH team of vets/nurses, as well as auxillary nurses who look after our in-patients OOH).
Salary and Rota
The rota is based on a 4 day a week, 1 weekend (mornings only) in 5 – 6. Shift patterns on weekdays are a mix of 9 - 4 and 9 - 7. There is a separate out of hours team, but you will be 2nd on call one day a week and one weekend in 5 primarily for advice for the out of hours vet or nurse.
The rota is designed to give a great work life balance, based on 40 hours and a 4 day week. Should a 5 day week be preferred to suit your lifestyle better, or Part Time, then we would happily accommodate this.
We are based at two sites;
Chorlton – our main branch has our Small animal work & our Avian and Exotic Referral Clinic. Here we see both cat and dog patients, and first opinion and referral exotic patients.
Sale - our NEW Cat only Clinic where we provide consults and routine surgeries.
