Job Description Summary
Join GE Vernova working at Dogger Bank Wind Farm as a Lead Electrical Commissioning Authorized Technician. We seek enthusiastic individuals experienced in leading teams installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced electrical systems on offshore wind turbines, focusing on Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV).
This role offers a clear professional growth path, with expectations for successful candidates to progress to a Commissioning Supervisor role by demonstrating full proficiency in LV and HV commissioning and team leadership offshore. Continuous learning and skill development in LV and HV systems and leadership will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
* Commissioning & Testing:
o Manage offshore teams during installation, routine maintenance, and repairs of LV and HV electrical systems, including converters, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and related components.
o Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, method statements, and specifications while supervising technical teams.
o Ensure safety regulations and industry standards are strictly followed in all operations.
o Assist senior engineers in electrical system commissioning.
o Conduct pre-commissioning tests and inspections to ensure systems are ready for service.
o Document all commissioning activities comprehensively and report to the engineering team.
* Troubleshooting:
o Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in LV and HV equipment.
o Use advanced testing tools to identify and fix electrical issues efficiently.
o Collaborate with engineering teams on complex technical challenges.
* Health & Safety:
o Maintain adherence to health and safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
o Perform risk assessments and implement control measures for electrical tasks.
o Supervise and mentor technicians to ensure safe work practices and skill development.
o Participate in safety training and promote safety culture within the team.
Qualifications
Required:
* Electrical or Wind technician apprenticeship, diploma, or degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Experience with LV and HV electrical systems.
Desired:
* Experience leading teams on wind farms or offshore industries; authorized person (AP) in MV or HV industries.
* High-voltage switching experience with 11 kV and 33 kV systems.
* Deep understanding of electrical principles and systems.
* Proficiency in reading electrical schematics.
* Hands-on experience with testing and diagnostic tools.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Leadership, mentoring, and training abilities.
* Relevant electrical certifications (e.g., Certified Electrical Technician, High Voltage Safety Certification) preferred.
