Technical Sales Manager
Metro Rod, together with its sister company Metro Plumb, is a leading provider of drain clearance and maintenance services across the UK. Founded in 1983, we operate through over 60 franchisees and serve a wide range of clients including Equans, Amey, Aldi, Mitie, Greggs, McDonald’s, and Wetherspoons.

We specialise in drain clearance, pumping systems, and wastewater solutions, with a reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction. Our Waste & Water Services Division also includes Willow Pumps and Filta, covering sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions.
Role Overview
This full‑time, remote position offers a salary up to £48,000 PLUS commission, with the opportunity to support franchisees and the sales team in scoping, pricing, winning, and executing drainage projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Support franchisees and the sales team with project scoping, pricing, and execution of drainage projects.
* Ensure every project meets and exceeds client expectations using strong technical knowledge of drainage, pumps, and treatment plants.
* Generate and develop new business opportunities, driving growth through the AMP cycles of UK water companies.
* Travel regularly across the UK, including the Support Centre in Macclesfield, approximately 3 days per week.
* Run projects end‑to‑end, from client scoping through to delivery.
* Adhere to health & safety, compliance standards, and drainage law.
* Maintain exceptional customer service and resolve challenges through to solution.
* Collaborate with all stakeholders, from site teams to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
* Outstanding background in drainage operations (survey, maintenance, rehabilitation, pumping systems, and treatment plants).
* Experience in sales support, project scoping, or technical consultancy is preferred.
* Hands‑on approach, willing to get involved practically where needed.
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
* Proactive, enthusiastic, and solutions‑focused with a strong drive to resolve operational challenges.
* Motivation to learn and develop.

* IOSH Managing Safely
* SMSTS
* Hands‑on training in patch repairs and full‑length liner installs
* Confined spaces Medium Risk certification
* OS19X certification
* Knowledge of plumbing work
