Technologist – Cell Expression Systems R&D
Location: Cambridge Role Type: Full-time | 90% Lab-based
We’re seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Technologist to join our Cell Expression Systems R&D team in Cambridge. In this hands‑on role, you’ll support analytical activities across multiple projects and contribute directly to the development of innovative recombinant protein
technologies.
🌟 What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting senior analytical scientists with sample analysis to generate high‑quality data for project decision‑making
* Performing sample purification, product quantification, and product quality analysis, including techniques such as:
* Protein A HPLC (PrA HPLC)
* Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)
* CE‑SDS
* icIEF
* Preparing solutions, including analytical buffers, media, and feed
* Conducting monthly mycoplasma testing
* Maintaining smooth lab operations through stock checks, instrument calibrations, and general housekeeping
* Collaborating closely with multiple R&D teams to improve recombinant protein manufacturing workflows
* Keeping accurate, timely records aligned with quality standards
* Staying informed on relevant scientific literature
* Contributing ideas to support the development of new analytical methods and technologies
This is a highly practical, lab‑focused role, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic scientific environment.
🔧 Top Three Must‑Have Skills
* Hands‑on experience in an analytical laboratory, particularly in protein characterisation
* Strong knowledge and practical expertise in chromatography and electrophoresis techniques (e.g., ProA HPLC, SEC, CE‑SDS)
* Understanding of affinity purification techniques and established analytical methods, including awareness of their strengths and limitations
