Locum Consultant in Inherited Metabolic Medicine for adults

Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Inherited Metabolic Medicine based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced specialist metabolic Physician and biochemist to contribute to the ongoing development of an exciting new national service for adults with Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD). The Scottish IMD service is a nationally commissioned service for people of all ages with IMDs. The successful candidate will provide outpatient care and advice for adults with IMD and their families primarily within SE, East and NE Scotland, but will work closely with colleagues based in Glasgow as well.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a world-recognised major centre for medical care, research and teaching. There are extensive modern laboratory services including Metabolic Biochemistry and Clinical and Molecular Genetics. All major medical and surgical subspecialities are represented on site. In addition, the Scottish Inherited Metabolic Disorders Service provides direct care for adults throughout Scotland through outreach clinics supplemented with virtual consultations and telephone advice to families and to health, education and social care professionals.
Applicants must possess full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Those trained within the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within six months of confirmed entry from the date of interview, and should possess a postgraduate qualification (MRCP or equivalent). Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent qualifications and training.
