Our Residential Service support some of the most vulnerable young people in Fife who have experienced significant childhood adversity and who, at times, may experience significant distress and distressed related behaviours. Candidates must:
1. Provide high-quality care and support to children in a residential setting
2. Assist in the development and implementation of individual care plans
3. Promote a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for all children
4. Support children in their daily routines, including education, activities, and personal development
5. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
6. Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to meet children's needs
7. Uphold safeguarding procedures and ensure the well-being of all children
8. Uphold the principals of the Promise Scotland
9. Undertake physical tasks (for example cleaning and cooking) that promote a homely environment
10. Participate in various activities with children in the house and community
The successful applicant will be expected to uphold professional standards as detailed by the SSSC and the Care Inspectorate.

The Person
11. Experience of working with young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences
12. An understanding of the concepts and principles of attachment & trauma responsive care
13. Must be able to see beyond presenting behaviours whilst being able to display empathy, compassion and hope for young people
14. Understand that this is a demanding and, at times, very tough job. A high level of composure and resilience is required
15. Must have an HNC in Social Care and SVQ 3, or be willing to work toward these qualifications and register with SSSC within 3 months of start date
16. Ability to organise and participate in leisure and recreational activities
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.
If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
