Role: Mechanical Design Engineer (Medium-Voltage Product Development)

Vertiv is a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions. We manufacture a range of Medium Voltage switchgear for both the European and North American markets.
We are seeking a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the innovation and enhancement of our Medium-Voltage Switchgear product line. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our offerings in the industry. Your expertise will help drive the design, development, and support for the successful launch of new products, ensuring they meet market demands, industry standards, and customer needs.
The role involves frequent interaction with Offering Management, Marketing, Sales teams, and other internal departments.
The role:
* Define product specifications, features, and functionalities, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
* Develop product designs following Product Standards (e.g., IEC 62271 & IEEE C37.20.2).
* Create 3D models and 2D drawings of product designs.
* Promote a culture of innovation within the product development team, encouraging creative thinking and idea generation.
* Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
* Follow the department's NPDI process and complete relevant documentation.
* Stay updated with technological advancements and industry developments, applying relevant knowledge to improve products.
* Build prototypes to support product design development.
* Manage engineering change processes for existing products.
* Demonstrate ethics and integrity in all activities.
* Conduct Product Risk Assessment through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
* Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
* Provide timely and accurate responses to design information and drawing requests.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering/design technology or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
* Proficiency in 3D modeling using Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent software.
* Experience with 2D drafting (first and third angle projection) and GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
* Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and other relevant applications.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective time management skills.
* At least 2 years of experience in design.
