On behalf of AWE, we are looking for a Commercial Transformation Assistant Project Manager (Inside IR35) for an 11 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (three days per week - Aldermaston, Reading).

What if you could work on something that you can't test… but cannot afford to fail? Something that could have spent years on a submarine, is launched into outer space (where the temperature is below -250c), comes hurtling through the atmosphere, being heated up and shaken and then must work? Some challenge. That's exactly what the team of over 6,500 people at AWE do every day delivering important work, in support of the most important mission - keeping the nation safe.

AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. Job Purpose:

The Commercial Transformation Assistant Project Manager will report into the Transformation Programme Manager responsible for day-to-day project management and delivery of the transformation of the Commercial function within AWE. The successful candidate will ensure the coordination and planning of transformation projects, as well as providing project reporting and delivery of projects. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, stakeholders, and senior leadership, to ensure these initiatives are well planned and executed to meet their intended goals and deliver value to the function and organisation.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

As a Commercial Transformation Assistant Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

* Project Plan Coordination and Development:
* Develop consistent project plan templates across workstreams
* Create and maintain integrated plans from multiple workstreams
* Work closely with workstream leads to align on their objectives, milestones, and plans.
* Identify potential risks and challenges in transformation projects and maintain the risk register
* Detailed budget management with forecasts, projections, and outturn costs for projects
* Project Plan Development & Execution:
* Develop project plans for delivery responsibilities, outlining key objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
* Work closely with workstream leads to align on their objectives, milestones, and plans.
* Identify potential risks and challenges in transformation projects and develop mitigation plans to minimise disruptions.
* Ensure that the quality of deliverables meets or exceeds established standards and expectations.
* Change & Stakeholder Management:
* Monitor change management initiatives associated with transformation to ensure successful adoption by the function and business.
* Develop and implement communication strategies to communicate programme progress to ensure stakeholder buy-in and engagement throughout the transformation journey.
* Collaborate with key functions including IT to integrate the programme with overall business enterprise structure.

Essential:

* Proven experience in leading successful PMO in complex environments.
* Strong understanding of project planning processes, best practices, and emerging trends.
* Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
