Role Description
Orchard House Family Assessment Centre provides outstanding residential and community-based parenting assessments, psychological assessments, and related services to Family Courts and Local Authorities nationwide.
Our multidisciplinary model, commitment to reflective practice, and attachment-informed approach mean that decision‑making is robust, child‑centred, trauma‑aware and evidence‑based.
We are delighted that in November 2025 Ofsted inspection judged us ‘Outstanding’ in every category, recognising the quality of our work, the skills of our staff team, and the impact we have on children and families.
This is a full‑time, on‑site Social Worker role based in Taunton. You will play a central role in supporting high‑quality, evidence‑based family assessments within a residential setting. Working closely with Consultant Social Workers and the wider multi‑disciplinary team, you will contribute to safeguarding, risk management, and direct work with families to improve outcomes for children.
Unlike traditional social work posts, you will not hold your own caseload. Instead, you will work across the full span of different assessments – providing observations, supporting key meetings, and helping to shape clear, well‑evidenced recommendations. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with families using our trauma‑informed and attachment‑based approach.
This role is ideal for someone wishing to deepen their skills in assessment, safeguarding practice, attachment‑informed work, and trauma‑aware approaches within an organisation recognised for its high standards. It may also suit someone who is looking to step back from the demands of carrying their own caseload, while still making a significant and meaningful contribution to the lives of children and families.
