In 2026 our first year out salary for a 4 or 5 year trained teacher is $117,092 and $ base plus superannuation, respectively, and this increases with experience to the top of the scale at $131,925. As we are a registered charity you can also take advantage of our generous salary packaging to boost your take home pay.

Alternative to Alternative education. Indie Academy provides young adults with the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using flexible learning and individualised education plans tailored to each student's own education and life circumstances. 1:1 teaching and small class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths.
The Indie Academy is an innovative educational program that is integrated into Indie school campuses nationwide. Through our Learning Management System, Canvas, you will have the chance to develop interactive online material for students to utilise. Additionally, you will be involved in coordinating weekly community lunches for students, as part of our Eat Well, Do Well Program.
Core Workplace Objectives:
* Preparation and delivery of programs in line with appropriate curriculum.
* Ensuring the most effective use of time and resources in the delivery of workshops aligned to student's individual learning and pathways plans.
* Promoting the school's alternative educational and strengths-based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are achieved with the focus on "Changing the Lives of Young People."
Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities:
Teaching duties are aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Key duties of the teacher may include but are not limited to:
* Writing curriculum that provides adjustments for students (this requires an understanding of SA curricula; understanding of the SA Curriculum F-10 and WACE will be highly regarded)
* Planning, writing, and delivering structured lessons that differentiate and personalise the learning for each student
* Embedding best practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students.
* Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.
* Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs.
* Supporting young people with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low levels of literacy/numeracy, and mental illness.
This includes personalising the learning for individual students pursuant to the levels of adjustment of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
* Collaborating to write Individual Learning Plans for all students
* Embedding the strategies from Individual Learning Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student
* Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth (particularly through formative assessment practices).
* Assessing and reporting student achievement and progress
* Behaviour management (including an understanding of trauma-informed practice, or a willingness to gain this knowledge)
Essential requirements to verify before commencement:
* Relevant State Working with Children's Check.
* Annual National Police Check (issued in the 3-months prior to appointment)
* Hold a current South Australian teacher registration (SA).

Remuneration:
* Level 9 – Level 11 (Indie Education Enterprise Agreement $117,092 - $131,925 per annum, plus superannuation based on training and experience.
