Job overview

To provide high-quality, efficient administration and clerical services to all inpatient areas, staff, visitors, and patients.

Main duties of the job

* Main source of administrative support for the ward team.
* Admit patients onto the units/ward using the patient administration system.
* Greet visitors face-to-face and respond to requests for basic information.
* Accurately and promptly carry out delegated tasks as directed by the ward team, who are professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
* Respond correctly to clinical emergencies to ensure patients receive appropriate care.
* Organise additional services for patients as required, such as interpreters and transport.
* Answer and note all incoming calls to the ward/clinical area, relay queries and messages as appropriate to clinical staff.
* Facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
* Participate in baby abduction drills where appropriate.
