Health and Safety Advisor
Salary: £30,000
Location: Sunderland (Site Based)
Hours: Mon-Fri: 8.30am-5pm
My client is looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator within a busy inbound centre and warehouse site. The role is to develop, maintain and manage the HSE system and procedure necessary to operate an integrated customer focus organization.
Main Duties:
1. Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace
2. Advising employees on how to minimize or ultimately avoid risks and hazards in the workplace
3. Ensuring the business is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation
4. Working with and training all employees to manage, monitor and improve the health and safety standards in the workplace
5. Being responsible for all safety inspections in the workplace (e.g., monitoring noise levels in a warehouse)
6. Assisting with the creation and management of health and safety monitoring systems and policies in the workplace
7. Managing emergency procedures (e.g., fire alarm drills) and organizing emergency teams such as fire marshals and first aiders
8. Maintaining and implementing the H&S and Environmental policies and procedures of the organization
9. Regular reviews of HSES management system procedures ensuring updates are monitored, trained, communicated, and introduced on time
10. Collating information to formalize monthly HSES reports to drive continuous improvement across the organization
11. HSES Incident Management: Ensure any corrective action that has been identified is reported, completed, and verified in a timely manner
12. Root Cause Analysis, RCA: Investigation into the root causes of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental deficiencies through problem & process analysis and the identification of process improvements and preventive actions
13. Lead the facilitation, analysis, and investigation of HSES issues
14. Communications with clients or 3rd parties where required
15. The preparation, documentation, and training of HSES procedures, instructions, and reports to support the Continuous improvement and compliance of the organization
16. Liaise with external parties, including customers, accreditation bodies, suppliers, etc. on matters that relate to HSES
17. To ensure that the HSES internal audit schedules are planned in accordance with business risk and that these audits are conducted to the schedule
18. In addition to these duties employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required
19. You will be the local environmental champion for the site and continuously seek ways to reduce energy consumption
Skills:
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 OHSAS1800, ISO14001, ISO 45001 within an operational environment. NEBOSH or working towards IOSH managing safely (Essential)
Core skills: Effective risk assessment, COSHH assessment, accident/incident investigation, implementation of pro-active problem-solving techniques using 8D and Lean methodology. Solid understanding of HSES Regulations and requirements. Knowledge of transactional business processes. Knowledge of environmental policies
