Engineers form part of the Security Engineering Team (SET), an expanding team that delivers specific IT Security Services to a client in the Aerospace industry. The team operates across two main sites in Derby, providing services to the client. Team members are not fixed to one location, allowing for interesting and diverse work in different environments. The role focuses on three main areas:
1. Run Activity – Monitoring and acting on the health of various Security tools.
2. Incident Response – Responding appropriately to security tooling issues within the SET's scope.
3. Triaging requests received via the Engineering Team mailbox and Service Management queue, ensuring proper ownership and follow-up.
Hybrid working: Your work location will vary based on your role, needs, and business requirements, blending company offices, client sites, and home working. Note that you cannot work from home 100% of the time.
Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment checks, including identity, nationality or immigration status, employment history for the past 3 years, and a criminal record check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
Your role
* Ensure the integrity of client IT infrastructures, following core IT Service Management Principles, including on-call and out-of-hours work.
* Maintain the security toolkit infrastructure within your remit, supporting tools like SIEM, IDPS, GVM, and malware protection.
* Record and respond to health alerts from security infrastructure.
* Learn to tune and enable policies, features, and enhancements in response to security incidents and client requests.
* Develop troubleshooting skills for potential impacts of security tooling on business applications.

Your skills and experience
* Understanding of security threats, compromise methods, and server, client, and network technologies in an IT outsourcing environment, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
* Excellent communication skills, client engagement, time management, expectation management, and ability to perform under pressure.
* Experience with implementing and managing enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.
* Experience with MS Cloud Security, including Sentinel, Defender, and the wider E5 licensing suite.
* Desirable: Netskope platform administration, including policy configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Your security clearance
To be appointed, you must obtain security clearance, which requires residence in the UK for the past 5 years, among other criteria. You will be asked about your eligibility during the recruitment process, and some roles may be restricted to UK nationals.
