Joseph Ash Chesterfield are looking for a Transport Supervisor. You will be responsible for the effective planning of Transport along with all daily transportation activities including managing a team of drivers, ensuring EU legal compliance is adhered to a high standard. Help develop efficient transport operations, prepare transportation schedules, and assign drivers in line with company policies, alongside performing administrative duties such as preparing documents, reports and costings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Be the first line manager for a team of drivers. Improve transport running costs and vehicle / trailer utilisation and produce KPI’s Using the company TMS, review vehicle and driver efficiency and plan routes accordingly Budgetary responsibility for the transport department including use of subcontractors. Document and maintain information necessary to compile budgeting figures. Ensure vehicle walk around checks are completed by all drivers & to implement rectification of any defects reported, so vehicles maintain roadworthiness. Debriefing of driver infringements via Logistics UK Vision system. Ensure that the vehicle servicing schedule is strictly adhered too, and all vehicles are presented when required. Ensuring compliance with the safety standards and transportation department Safe Systems of Work Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Follow all company safety procedures. Accident / incident investigation to establish route cause. Provide excellent customer service. Driver recruitment and induction were required. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication. Respond to telephone & email correspondence to ensure customers’ requests are met in a professional manner. Effectively manage customer expectations on collection and delivery requirements Maintain levels of consumable stock and complete orders as required. Complete drivers manifests to show correct details of deliveries and collections required to be made. Thorough understanding of statutory transport procedures and controls needed to maintain FORS standard. Supply and document drivers PPE, uniform and general supply requirements. Attend training and toolbox talks when requested to ensure operational compliance. Comply and adhere at all times to all Health & Safety responsibilities, safety notices, instructions, directions and company polices & procedures. General administration of all transport related activities PERSON SPECIFICATION Previous experience in the transport industry, using TMS and infringement software. Ability to motivate the team and communicate efficiently. Ability to use MS Office applications (including Outlook & Excel). Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels. A broad understanding of drivers’ hours legislation and good knowledge of the UK road network. Excellent communication, both customer facing and via the telephone. Good Problem Solver Self-motivated and driven to achieve results. Previous experience using Opera or equivalent system. Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
