Overview
The Environment Agency is looking for an experienced investigator to join the National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer. You will work with Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to lead investigations into serious and complex environmental crimes, coordinating all aspects from lines of enquiry and intelligence review to evidence gathering, interview coordination, casefile preparation and prosecution.

Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate major environmental investigations, including identifying lines of enquiry, reviewing intelligence, allocating actions, coordinating evidence gathering and interviews, and preparing case files for prosecution.
* Work alongside Partnership Organisations and develop investigative teams and complex investigations.
* Operate within the National Environmental Crime Unit and contribute to the progress and development of the team.
* Respond to incidents as part of the role and provide business continuity support during incidents where required.
Qualifications and Experience
* High attention to detail with a strong investigative background.
* Knowledge of investigative legislation such as PACE and CPIA; excellent verbal and written skills; basic IT competency (Word, Excel, Teams).
* Desirable: knowledge of environmental crime, experience leading serious criminal investigations, and familiarity with a Major Incident Room.
* Experience in driving investigations, building and developing investigation teams, and using initiative to resolve issues.
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting processes within a 6-month probationary period.
* Full driving licence is required.
Role Details
* Location: Exeter, or nearby Environment Agency offices; hybrid working with flexible arrangements.
* Travel: Frequent travel for meetings and operational duties.
* Incident role: Availability to respond to incidents; incident work may attract additional payment and training.
